The Massage Center and Yoga Studio, founded in 1989, provides an eclectic atmosphere where your relaxation, serenity, and radiant well being are the goal. We are one of the largest massage centers in the country: 25 massage professionals and 12 treatment rooms including 2 Couples Massage Rooms and our 800 sq foot Luxury Suite, that can accommodate bookings for small groups. Our Massage Center and Yoga Studio are open 7 days a week Same day massage bookings and drop ins to yoga classes are encouraged.

 

Therapeutic Massages

Therapeutic Massage – Our most popular treatment

Pressure Scale: 2-5

For clients who have specific areas needing focus.

Intention: To help with freedom and release of tension by addressing specific areas of tenderness, pain or injury. To receive a full body massage, please book as 90 minutes.

Techniques: Specific work that includes trigger point, myofascial release, clinical, and focused work .

Relaxation Massage/Hot Stone Massage – Heavenly

Pressure Scale: 1-3

For clients who are wanting to relax.

Intention: To improve circulation and move blood towards the heart using Swedish massage. To receive a full body massage, please book as 60 minutes or longer.

Techniques: Effleurage strokes: slow, long, flowing and connecting strokes. Petrissage strokes: kneading strokes. No focused or clinical work.

Deep Tissue Massage – Melt chronic tension away

Pressure Scale: 4-6

For clients with chronic muscle tension or who like deep work

Intention: To release deeply held patterns of tension & dysfunction by applying pressure to the deeper layers of the muscle tissue. To receive a full body massage, please book as 60 minutes or longer.
Techniques: Slower strokes to give deep direct pressure; therapist can use knuckles, fists, and elbows

Ashi-Deep Tissue – The deepest, most luxurious massage on the planet

Pressure Scale 5-8

For clients who like deep work or can’t find ‘a deep enough’ massage.

Intention: To relieve chronic, soft tissue damage and initiate a structural change. To receive a full body massage, please book as 90 minutes.

Techniques: Deep compression effleurage strokes given with the feet; adapted from ancient barefoot massage.

No high risk or complicated pregnancies. 2nd & 3rd trimester only.

Warm moist steam towels prepare the skin for our stimulating and vigorous Face Lift Massage routine; consisting of 27 massage strokes (repeated 4 times) specifically designed to uplift, firm and retrain ones facial muscles, our Face Lift Massage leaves one’s skin renewed and healthy. Feel Better Yoga, yoga for your back - Carla Mahoney, RYT

5 week series Tuesdays 5:30p new class now forming,  … drop in with permission from Carla Whether you have an established practice or are new to yoga, this gentle yoga class will invite you to move with awareness. Carla has a long history of caring for her back as a preventative for pain. Expect a practice honoring your own body and it’s specific needs. There will be attention to the back body, use of breath, proper alignment and focus to develop strength and flexibility. Meditation skills will be used to draw the mind into the body for the ultimate in movement and release. Expect a mindful practice. Pace will be based on the needs of the students. This is an abiding yoga experience; prepare to take what you experience on the mat into your life.

Heart Open Yoga for beginners-Cindy Reed, LCSW

Cindy Reed HeartHAnds Cindy Reed is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker,  Life Coach with a Masters Degree from the University of Kentucky, and a Certified Daring Way Facilitator – Candidate.    She practices Yoga with a Heart Open Philosophy- a commitment to use the physical practice of Yoga to cultivate joy & increased energy – opening up to the beauty and opportunity of the world in front of us. Cindy trained with Amanda McMaine, Judith Lasater & Angela Farmer and has been sharing her practice as a yoga instructor since 2003. Classes are basic level and focused on breath awareness and alignment- while building overall flexibility, core & upper body strength – all in a nurturing environment.

Kripalu - with Anita Courtney, RYT

Courtney_Anita Using asana, breath, meditation and restorative practices, Anita attempts to create an experience for students that echoes into their lives after they leave class. The class is appropriate for new and long time practitioners. Anita received her yoga teaching certification at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in 2000. She is a certified Relax and Renew instructor for restorative yoga and a Level I Life Force Yoga Teacher which addresses depression and anxiety. She has studied mediation at the Shambhala Center and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction at the Duke Center for Integrative Medicine.

Carla is a registered yoga teacher who first came to yoga to manage her own health realities including chronic back pain. She found what she now teaches… inner awareness, strength and flexibility. Her primary interest is in wellness based yoga. Yoga is known to be helpful to those who desire a mindful practice due to cranky backs or challenging physical obstacles. Sara uses an integrative approach to teaching that combines insight, playfulness and compassion to form deep connections with her class. She is passionate about the true value and transformative aspects of yoga and is grateful to have the opportunity to enlighten others of its virtues. Drawling inspiration from many styles, Sara places precedence on understanding the needs of her students with keen awareness to the changing environment and the season. A natural athlete and outdoors enthusiast, Sara’s perspective of the body has evolved through her experience and study of endurance training. She emphases the pertinence of proper alignment on the yoga mat to maximize strength and flexibility in other activities. Devoted to the path of self-realization, Sara traveled to Southeast Asia to deepen her study of yoga, meditation and eastern medicinal methods. It was in beautiful Bali, Indonesia where she became accredited to teach yoga under the guidance of Tara Judelle, Certified Anusara Teacher. The Anusara method, rooted in Tantric philosophy, has inspired Sara to weave all of her interest into a grounded, spiritually infused, mind-body practice. She invites students to come to the mat with respect to where they are. Outside of teaching, Sara is also a chef and writer. She has a rich background in somatics, including dance, gymnastics, Body-Mind Centering, Thai Massage bodywork, and Transcendental Meditation. Her interdisciplinary approach incorporates knowledge of anatomy, alignment, and various styles of movement therapy. Come engage the deep sense of stillness and embodied peace that results from this style of practice.Since childhood Amanda has been interested in deepening her experience of the world and relationships by deepening the experience of the body.
